Litigation Support
Electronic Data Discovery What is the EDGE?
The foundation to a cost effective process is the use of a software that provides both accurate and
reliable information in a timely manner. Once a quality foundation is built, the client is afforded
another tool for beneficial use. Litigation support is the heart of information sharing among firms
and should have the availability of the most dynamic software tools in the industry.

The EDGE is an innovative process and document review tool created to enhance the abilities of litigation support personnel. The process allows immediate access to data as it is processed and produces end results in a client defined format. Extensive search and filtering capabilities are accessible through the robust EDGE viewer.

EDGE Loader
At ILS Technologies we understand the need for all features to
provide a unique and valuable benefit. The EDGE Loader introduces new
and revolutionary features
to the litigation support industry along with processing speed unmatched
by any current software offering throughout its field. The following
are benefits
of
the EDGE Loader
Fast and efficient document retrieval. Emails based on the
entry id of the email and also a md5 hash value using the from, creation date, subject
and body fields of the email. Attachments and native files based
on the md5 hash algorithm.
When duplicates are removed from the system the process stores a pointer back
to the original document so the client will never lose the ability to see document
sets in their entirety. The ability to export data to multiple litigation support
applications such as concordance and summation.
Documents are immediately accessible for review in the Edge Viewer.
Files are converted to Group IV tiff images in either single page or multi
page format. The text of the document can be returned to the customer in either
plain ASCII text format or html format depending on their requirements. All
metadata is extracted from within the file. File types are determined based
on their content not their file extension.
EDGE Viewer
The EDGE Viewer is a powerful tool that enhances the litigation support effort.
The viewer allows the end user the ability to perform many tasks more efficient
and faster than the industry standard. Many of the features for the EDGE
viewer are listed below:
Robust Audit Trails are established so the end user knows who flagged
which documents and when.
Document Hierarchy will show the document in the context of its original
form. i.e. an attachment to an email or contained within a zip file.
Extensive Searching Capabilities - Fuzzy, proximity, context, fielded,
synonym and thesaurus. Thesaurus can be customized to suit client needs.
Search fields include - Full Text, Mail To, Mail From, Mail CC, Mail Date,
Mail Subject and File Extension.
Ability to view all documents in the result set or just the unflagged ones. Results
can be viewed in three different styles: source, folder, and filename: source,
filetype and filename: source, filedate, and filename. User definable keywords
can be assigned to documents. User definable folder name can be assigned
to the document.
Foreign language document capabilities.
Client Neutral - can be used from any device/computer/operating system that
supports a web browser.
Security can be user/password or hardware key based.
OCR
OCR conversion is the process by which text from an image (a picture of a document) can be
extracted, providing searchable ASCII text. The OCR text of the complete document can then be
searched for key words or phrases. OCR can be an effective supplement to an objectively
coded database or as an alternative to key word or names mentioned coding. We emphasize
to our clients however, that OCR conversion is not 100% accurate and the conversion results
are greatly determined by the type of documents and clarity of the characters on the original
document. For instance, a 1st generation pleading printed on a laser printer will yield far
greater OCR accuracy than a 4th generation photocopy of a multi-part form.
