Case Study ::
Firm escapes SEC sanctions thanks to quick response from ILS
- Challenge
A prominent Delaware law firm
had less than four days to begin production for an SEC
violation hearing. Only two of the ten custodians’ data
was collected and none of the information had yet been
processed for review. With the Christmas holiday
looming, the attorneys assigned to the case were in a
panic. In order to satisfy the SEC requirements, a
review and multiple production scenario was needed.
- Solution
ILS recommended an on-line
“rolling” review using the EDGE review tool. As new data
arrived, ILS staged the data allowing the attorneys to
continue reviewing documents while simultaneously
producing Summation load files to the SEC for
production. Upon completion of the initial production,
the remaining eight custodians’ files were collected,
processed and reviewed.
- Results
In fewer than 12 hours from the
initial receipt of data, ILS’ solution was selected and
the attorneys began reviewing documents. The rolling
review and production ultimately lasted six weeks, with
a total of 90GB of data processed. The entire review was
conducted online using ILS’ EDGE review tool in less
time than some service providers proposed they would
even be able to have a project engineer on site to being
working on the project.
The firm met all SEC requirements for the data
production and was exempt from sanction.
